FTB Spotlight – Logan Allen

High School – University (Orange City)

Grad Year – 2017

FTB – Going into his 3rd season with FTB

Winner!  That is the word that comes to mind when you talk about Logan Allen.  Logan has won everywhere he has pitched.  In high school he pitched his team all the way to the state finals, putting up video game type numbers along the way.  During that run he beat multiple nationally ranked teams, all of this while he was just a young sophomore.  He followed that up by not losing a game this summer.  Winning games in deep playoff runs in multiple Perfect Game events.  He topped all of that, however, this Fall.  He won 2 games at the Perfect Game WWBA Underclass World Championship on his way to being named the Most Valuable Pitcher of the entire event.  Two weeks later he faced a top 20 overall national team, on the biggest stage in amateur baseball, at the Perfect Game WWBA World Championships (Jupiter).  On that day, he pitched 6 innings giving up only one run to beat the pool favorite.  After this Fall, Logan has firmly cemented himself as one of the best, “big game” pitchers in the 2017 class.

Logan is a very athletic guy, with a compact delivery that he easily repeat. This allows him to throw strikes with all three pitches to both sides of the plate.  He has great feel and aggressively goes after hitters early in often.  He can also pitch backwards if the situation calls for it.  His fastball sits in the mid to upper 80s and projects for more.  It has late run and sink and he keeps it down in the zone and on the corners.  His curveball is an above average pitch for both its hard breaking 11-7 action and his ability to consistently locate it to both righties and lefties.  His changeup has late fade and he does a great job of keeping his arm speed to give him a third legitimate out pitch.  As good as his physical tools are, they play way up because of his “pitchability.”

Logan will have a major role for FTB this summer.  He is willing to take the ball against any opponent and his competitiveness is unmatched.  Any time your name comes up and the word winner is used, you know you are doing things right!  Logan does it right!
