FTB Spotlight – Christian Robinson

High School – Viera

Grad Year – 2018

FTB – Going into his 4th season with FTB

Christian came to his first FTB try out when he was in the 7th grade.  At that point you could have mistaken him for someone that was trying out for a 16 and under team.  Now, Christian is 6’3 and over 200LBs and looks every bit like a graduating senior.  As physically imposing as he is to his fellow 2018 classmates, he is quite polished as well.  He is a very competitive kid that wants to play the best competition in the country.  One of the hardest working players in our program, he strives every day to get better at his craft. His body and tools will always be the first thing that people notice, but they will soon find out he is very well rounded on and off the field.

Christian is a left-handed hitter that produces well-above average bat speed and already has current strength to drive the ball to all fields.  He makes in game adjustments well and has a knack for the barrel.  His biggest improvement I have seen is his two strike approach.  He is working counts and doing a very good job at attacking his pitch when he gets it.  In the field, he has a good chance to stay in centerfield with his above average speeds and instincts.  He is improving his jumps and angles and his arm grades as plus, even producing upper 80s fastballs when he gets on the mound.

From an early age it was easy to notice that there was a special “it” about Christian.  He didn’t play to just come to the park and leave.  He doesn’t want to be another guy, or even just good.  It is very noticeable with how he handles himself that Christian strives to be great!  In the classroom he is a 4.0 student, no surprise from a family that demands academic excellence (His brother Patrick played FTB and now is playing at Harvard).  Christian is simply the type of kid that wants to be the absolute best he can in every phase of his life.

I thought about ending this spotlight in a number of ways, but I settled on something very simple.  I am going to enjoy watching how hard Christian works.  His greatest motivation lies within himself.  True competitors want to be better every day.  Christian is absolutely a True competitor!
